We are to put the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, next we are going to dig a little deeper into the shield of faith.
In the days of the Old Testament, the Israelite soldiers had huge, very heavy shields. They were made to lock with other shields to create one big protection from the enemy. Just like these soldiers shields, we are to lock with other believers.
When satan throws arrows at us we need to use this big heavy shield. The shield of faith. Faith is an active practice built on belief.
Some easy steps to do this… 1. Hear God’s word. We need to soak up His words in the Bible. Really hear the true meaning. 2. recognize that problems will drive you to the Lord. Problems, trials, struggles help us to grow our confidence in the unseen reality of God and His involvement in your life. Don’t run from them, run towards them. 3. You need people. Sometimes God uses other people to help you, strengthen you, and comfort you. He uses them through words or presence. Lean in to these “angels”. 4. Accept Gods purpose for your life. Whatever He has for your life surrender to it, to His will. 5. You need Gods perspective. Always keep your focus on God.
We can’t stop satan from attacking, but we can stop him from reaching his desired goal. With the shield of faith. Our shield is so big it can cover our whole life. The phrase “fiery darts” is arrows dipped in oil and set aflame.
Satan wants to create any distractions he can to pull you from living Gods purpose. We can have faith because God always tells the truth.
