healthy boundaries, scripture, testimony and blessing

Acts Ch 2

In Acts chapter 2 we see the Holy Spirit come down on the apostles just like Jesus said before He went to be with our Father. After we turn to Jesus and repent of our sins, He sends the Holy Spirit upon us to give us courage, boldness, confidence, insight, ability, and authority on top of a strength beyond ordinary.

Peter, one of the disciples who were now called apostles, is someone who you can REALLY see God’s work in. He was not a good man but repented of his sins and God not only forgave him, He used him. This gives us a very clear picture that God can forgive us of any sin, and then use us for His works. Wow, talk about some comfort. He understands this is a fallen world, and we are sinful people.

I have little section titles in my study Bible and at the end of chapter 2, the last section is “the believers meet together”. This gives us one of the ideas God has for the church. Acts 2:43-47 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything they had. They sold their processions and shared the proceeds to those in need. They worshipped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity – all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all people. And each day the Lord added their group those who were being saved.

We are to attract people to Christ with a healthy Christian community. Worship and love should be our standard. Other believers are in fact our brothers and sisters in God’s family. Are you doing all you can to make sure your church is attracting others to Christ?
