In this chapter we see Peter healing a lame man, well Jesus healing him, but through Peter. Peter then sees the opportunity and runs with it. I have 2 things I want to address in this chapter. Again other things will stick out to you, this is just what I feel God wants me to share.
Acts 3:4-6 Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!” The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting a gift. But Peter said, “I don’t have any money for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!”
Have you ever asked for something and God gave you something even bigger and better in return? If so remember that feeling?! It’s pretty incredible. In this case God gave the lame man complete healing. He was only asking for a solution for a small problem, but God said I have something even better. It was something that he really needed.
What an amazing God we serve! I feel I am going through the same thing.. I asked God to take away the CRPS and He told me “I have something even better!” He is totally transforming my body. Healing me in more ways than one. Strengthening relationships, giving me my story so that I can help others. Once I realized that I began to praise Him for what He was giving me. It is definitely more than what I asked for!
The other section I want to mention is Acts 3:12a Peter saw his opportunity and addressed the crowd…
I love this because God is showing us how to be the church. It is one way we can share the Good News. Peter seized the moment before him. I gotta tell you I fail at this a lot. I have had many chances to share Gods word and I froze and ignored the opportunity. Peter showed exactly what God wanted. He saw the audience and knew it was his time to be God’s hands and feet.
His message was: 1. Who Jesus is. 2. How the Jews rejected him. 3. Why their rejection was fatal. 4. Why they needed to change the situation. They still had a choice, continue their evil ways or repent of their sins and turn to Christ. Even after all that God still gave them a choice. Talk about mercy and grace!
A lot of times these moments, like the healing, are often the best teachable moments. We need to pray we are like Peter and we grab that opportunity and run with it!
