Hello my friends! God has been really speaking to me and I feel like I have a million things to pass on that I’ve been learning. I really need to post more days 😉
Our pastor has been preaching on Godcentricity. It’s been so good. Right now it’s on the Holy Spirit and it’s role in our Christian walks. So I have started to read Acts again. I love how I can keep reading a chapter in the Bible or listening to the same podcast episode and each time God brings something new to the table.
In chapter 1 of Acts, Luke says that Jesus spent 40 days on Earth after his resurrection and then he went into the clouds to heaven. He tells them before he goes that the Father will send a helper after he is gone (which is the Holy Spirit).
After we become Christians we are to receive the Holy Spirit. This would give them the power, it would guide their steps. And finally seeing extraordinary results of what God does for us.
How often do we try to reverse this order? We want the results now or we want to do things for God but on our own ability. That is not at all what God planned for us.
The thing I want to share today though is verses 9-11: It was not long after he said this that he was taken up into the sky while they were watching, and he disappeared into a cloud. As they were straining their eyes to see him, two white-robed men suddenly stood there among them. They said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing here staring at the sky? Jesus has been taken away from you into heaven. And someday, just as you saw him go, he will return!”
We don’t know when he will return so we need to be ready at every minute of every day. So stop looking at the sky! While we wait for his return we need to be out sharing the Good News to others. Using what God gave us to further the Kingdom of Heaven.
I often joke and say Jesus just take me now. In a way to me this is staring at the sky. Instead of bringing others to share in God’s blessing I am looking for him to take me because I can’t handle a little defeat. I need to change my mind frame. Focus on sharing my story and helping others, doing what God wants me to do. Asking the Holy Spirit to guide my steps in everything.
Let’s work on this together! Stop staring at the sky and get to work. 💜
