Do you struggle with self pride? We have to be careful of this. God wants us to be humble, not prideful.
What is pride? A feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from ones own achievements, the achievements of those whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.
Being proud is not a sin in itself. It’s if we let that pride go a little too far. For example if you think a little too highly of yourself, conceited, arrogant, overconfident. This is where sin creeps in.
In James 4:6 it says “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble”. He is against the proud because if you are too prideful you are looking for yourself for the honor and glory, not to God.
Jesus is our rescue from the pride. We need to confess it. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you have self control over it. Focus more on God, if you are doing that then there is no room for self arrogance.
It can be lonely up there on the pedestal that pride gives you. No thank you! I don’t want to be alone. I can not do this life on my own. But if you do struggle with it, thank goodness for Gods grace! He will help you fight those tendencies. Give God the glory at all times, for it is Him who gets you through. 💜
